November 20: Our Model T

~ Boyd County, Nebraska

November 20, 1921: Was bright in forenoon but cold, very cold and cloudy toward night. Will went to Knolls and traded shells. Mr. H. Bradstreet came so they went hunting rabbits, on return had dinner at 3 p.m., went to Spencer. William stayed at folks and Will took Louise to McDuffees. I got meals and did part of chores in evening.



November 20, 1922: A bright day but cold south and a little east wind. Will chored than Will put pipe to hog waterer in ground. I went and got William and had dinner at folks. On return got sack of flour at mill and Lawrence Marx had leg broken yesterday. I got Will something to eat, then they finished pipe and William put dirt on pipe and Will went to Ableidingers to get wagon. I canned juice.



~ Hidden Timber, South Dakota

November 20, 1923: Cloudy in forenoon until 10 a.m. Bright rest of day until evening, cloudy again. Jake and Lawrence went to Carter. Will put hay in and around shed for pigs. Williams husked corn and in p.m. they butchered pig with John Marty’s help, as he came after dinner and they looked for horse in evening. Tom came for Wardrobe in evening. I don’t do much these days as feel bum.



November 20, 1925, Friday: Was a nice, warm day after a little wind in morning. Will cleaned the barn and at noon he and I took planks and things to school house and he put up wire for a curtain, as there will be a social tomorrow night. I made butter and bread and so late with bum bread. Louise to school and busy.



November 20, 1938, Sunday: Sun shone most of the day, but was chilly. I got meals, dressed a chicken for dinner and baked apple pies yesterday, so had some for today. Earl Harris of Crookston, Nebr. was here today. Chas. McCormick came late p.m., stayed for evening, and his brother will buy our Model T that we got from Harry Furrey, and this brother’s wife is Harry’s niece, a Kuhre girl. Stanley Whiting came in the evening and said that he was going to Rapid City tomorrow, and will bring us a load of Wood from there.
