October 20, 1923 and 1925

October 20, 1923: A bright day and quite pleasant. I left St. Francis, So. Dak. with Jacob La Point, stopped at Office & Hospital, Rosebud, dinner at Dorians. Lapoint went to big White River, I to ranch with Buster Cutschall at 4 p.m. Jake, Lawrence, Neva & Sydney & William Whiting & William Welch there. Buster and I to Tom Whiting’s, no lights on car so Welch took William Whiting and I to Winner, got there 10 p.m., having stopped at Carter.

October 20, 1925, Tuesday: Real cold night, bright but cold during day. Will & Jake took Elshire horse and Jake’s mules to Moore Creek and Jake went to Winner. Will came back to Menz’s where the cattle were in the corn, on his return he helped Dan’s and Wagner with George Smith’s horses, which they took to Smith’s on White River. Will & Abe Elshire went down Keya Paha River to look for cattle and had dinner at Wm Welch’s and home late evening. Louise to school. Mr. Menz took coal to school house, then he came here to tell about cattle nuisance, and I walked over so we could settle later, and Mrs. Menz, Ada & Fred brought me home, and we had supper. Louise is better, but not too well yet. I have such a cold in head and had to lie down this a.m. Cora and children and I lunched a noon.
