September 12, 1923 and 1939

September 12, 1923: A bright cold day. We left Ed’s via Jarboe, Giroux, Sam Bordeaux land, had dinner at Sam Bordeaux place on Key Paha, came via Clearfield to Dog Ear Lake where we camped 1 1/2 miles S. E. at So. Walker place and was cold & damp.

September 12, 1939: Bright, hot day. I got meals, fried a chicken, talked to Ed Foatz, Gall’s son-in-law, who is selling subscriptions, and we took 1 yr. to Woman’s World, Colliers, American, and Country Home. Gave 1 dollar cash, 60 cents, Horse Hair and 6 hens and 2 roosters in payment. Roosters were 6 cents per pound, hens 11 cents per pound.

Will and I to Legion Meeting at Tom Sazama’s. Those there were Tates, Sells, Jansens, Andersons, Mrs. Gilbert Gee and Jim, Mr. Joe Cerney, son and daughter. Tates brought Tub of watermelons so we had a big Feed with Cakes, Sandwiches, Coffee, Cream and Sugar. We got in at 1 a.m. and had a pleasant eve. Don’t mind going out when all is well.
