1923 Feb. 7th Wednesday
A little cloudy at times but warm until 4 p.m. wind blew quite hard and colder. Will has a cold in head & I sore throat. He did up work and got water at Sherlocks and brought some hay back. I cut out 2 shirts for Will and in p.m. we picked up a load of cobs on Bradstreet place and unloaded in bin in basement and Will got alfalfa for here as he took a load across to hogs when we went over for cobs. Still sore throat and colds in eve.
1933 Feb. 7th Tuesday
Was 6 below and snowing and continued at 10 below yesterday but to-day was bright and real cold about 15 below and 28 in morning. I got meals and sewed on outing flannel petticoats. The men chored and Wm made saw-horse to saw wood and Will got saw at Roy’s and Wm sawed wood in p.m., they hauled alfalfa in p.m. Roy lost turkeys and looked for them and brought down magazines in p.m. and found some here.
1943 Feb. 7th Sunday
Was a beautiful day, sun shone and no breeze. I got meals, visited with the Harry Furrey Family and Billie, Harley, Dorthy and I played. Louise is knitting her 3rd sweater so she helped Billie play cards and kept Something. I made a black Raspberry Gelatin for dessert, potatoes, steak, gravy, mince pies. Will and Harry visited and looked at cattle and unloaded a tank of ours that they brought from Fred Nelson’s for he borrowed it from Furreys 2 years ago and Furreys got it from us a long time ago. Furreys went home early and we looked for Abbotts this p.m. but they no come. The Van Epps Family left at daybreak for Norris, Bennett, Co., S. D., left Billie at Carl Gehlsens and went on for Breakfast.
1953 Feb. 7th Saturday
Bright nice day again about 42 above last 2 days and 50 above Thursday. Billie and Dan brought in 2 Stacks New Hay from Sturdevant and after dinner Billie took their sled home with a blowed out tire. Dan got another Stack, last one of new hay. Will ground Lard and some beef to put with Sausage left from Last Night and I boxed 8 qts, made a Meat loaf of some of this meat and apple pudding, potatoes, pickles, Liver gravy, bread, butter and water & Milk. Will cleaned Grinder and meat Pans & Kettles and Tub, so we are all finished but [to] cook Lard and make pickled meat. Will went to see where Dan was with load [of] hay coming in and he was not stuck. Betty & Calvin up and Betty had Will mail 2 letters with M— orders and Will got mail, not much. Am looking for Records from Sears but none so far. This is early Mass at H. T. St. Therese Chapel but I am staying home for cannot walk much. We are short 1 stack New Hay South River. I played Solitaire this late p.m. and eve as Will too all in to play.
