1923 Jan. 24th Wednesday
A bright day but breeze cold. I walked to Sherlocks and with [them?] to church and after Martie Langan’s funeral went to cemetery with Mrs. Rosa Marx and boys. Will did up work and fixed sows in pens and came up to folks. We had dinner, also Uncle Chris & Louise Ernest & Aldena Wolhiser. Papa is getting worse so call Father Bloom, Baker, Nebr. Mr. Mike Langan, Mr. Mike London, Mrs. Tom Dennis, Mrs. John London, Mrs. John Langan came to see Papa to-day. We came home towards eve. Will has an awful cold & headache this morn and at noon a gas-pain so is bum.

1933 Jan. 24th Tuesday
Bright, nice day, a S.W. breeze. I got meals and mopped front room and put things away and Wm put windows back upstairs and storm [windows] north of kitchen and he also chored, went to Roy’s to see what stock in field also to store in p.m. Will staid in bed until in p.m. and dressed and rested in front-room. Elias Bechstel and a Mr. Wilde his neighbor here to see about breeding mares. Ben Clausen, Loren Walton and Roy came in eve. Loren to sell corn and talk sale.

1943 Jan. 24th Sunday
Was 8 below last night and N.W. wind made 10 below in a.m., cloudy but sun shone towards noon, continued cold all day, but Will and Henry chored in eve, got in washing machine and water to wash clothes to-morrow. Wm Van Epps and Henry fed cattle at Wagner and got ready for church at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 our time, took kindling and went up but no Fr. Greither there so came back and we ate a lunch. Van Epps went to Carl Gehlsen’s and Elsie and Billie staid there and W.D. came back at 11 p.m. Henry, Will and I played rummy and 3 handed 500 by taking out the 4 and 5 so not so many cards to handle, the 2 and 3’s are taken out for 4 hands [of] 500. I laid down and played solitaire.

1953 Jan. 24th Saturday
Bright after a few clouds in morning. Men fed cattle. I washed the clothes yesterday and Will put all on line except a few small ones I hung one Rack by Heater and Blower. Meals and solitaire for me to-day and I sewed on Quilt Blocks. Will went in Pick Up to Winner, paid Personal Taxes, got Pick Up License for Pick Up. Paid Assman Agency $15.00 more for Lincoln R— for 1953. Got groceries and home early or late p.m., early towards eve. Dan used Cat and Dozer, cleaned road of snow in Klein’s Ravine and going to their Pasture in our wheat grass. He worked at his Rack for Pick Up. I dried clothes indoors that [were] not too dry yesterday and ironed them after supper. Wales stay home until [for] Calvin all danger of Pneumonia is past.
