1923 Jan. 15th Monday.
Was a lovely day for winter. Mr. Knoll & Will went to Cowells and got pony and Will had dinner there. I canned pumpkin. Will hauled alfalfa & got water and we brought hogs home. Charles Clouse [was] operated [on] at Norfolk for appendicitis.

1933 Jan. 15th Sunday.
Bright, nice day. Will chored and put stock in field, went to cane on Ben’s to see if stock there, watered calves, then he and I went to Bechstels and Harry’s, had dinner at Harry’s and Dorothy Mae’s arm not hurt so very long. Louise has headaches every Sunday. I gave Mrs. Bechstel Auxiliary reports and dues and $2.00 on O.T. Articles so to pay Mrs. Lambert’s & Mrs. Robertson’s dues. Wm staid alone but read and spent the day. I got supper.

1943 Jan. 15th Friday.
Rained at Times, was cloudy and warm and sun shone just a little while at times. Elsie and I got meals, she cleaned and mopped upstairs and our room. I baked an apple-sauce and spice cake and bread, laid down in p.m. for I still have a cough. The men chored and went to Wagner House and finished the wall-board, they also caked the cattle. Claude Van Epps came as it was too damp to husk corn at Chas. McCormick’s where he is husking and he helped on Wagner house. Frank Van Epps, Eugene and Vernon came and went to Wagner house to see if Frank could store machinery here.

1953 Jan. 15th Thursday
This [is] R.E.A. Pay day. Men gave cattle a Big Stack of alfalfa South of the Hill South East [of] House and it took a long time. We had boiled beef for lunch at noon and a vegetable Soup, for Supper had potatoes boiled with Jackets as R.E.A. went off the air about 9:30 a.m. so had to use a Lamp and Battery this eve, got too dark and Lamp sputtered. Will had Lantern at Garage helping Dan get Tractor (M) ready to go to Whiting Store to see if Road open to get to No. 18 via Mission to Valentine. It was getting dark this eve but Will used tractor. Dan and Betty and Calvin, who since yesterday has a bad cold, now cannot breathe, so in our Pick Up went to Thomas’s. Will got them uphill near barn. Thomas along to Whiting Store, they got stuck coming out of Thomas’s and Bud & Cecil Farmer in Pick Up helped them to NO. 18, had to detour once on account [of] deep snow. Wales on to Sandhill General Hospital for Calvin may have Pneumonia. Thomas, Cecil and Bud came back from No. 18. I finished Wool Quilt for will’s bed and not much else but eats and in eve read, some solitaire before bed time. Listened to Pres. Truman’s Farewell Address. He leaves Washington to go back to Independence, Missouri, Jan. 20th next week after 8 years as President of the U.S.A.
