1942 Nov. 30th Monday

Foggy, cloudy, cold and damp, and snow fell in mostly small round flakes. I got breakfast and Joe Bachmann who came from Winter Pasture after dark last eve, and Clarence Whiting left on both of Bachmann’s horses to take Pop-Eye and a soreel-spotted one and Ed took Clarence’s horse home and Wm Abbott put his saddle on this horse and rode as far as Whiting Store and got our V.8. Car for Tom [did not] bring it home. Abbott came horseback just as Ed was to leave for home for he first milked the cows, fed the other stock, bull, cow that was in barn and got in a large arm full of wood. I fed chickens and had to put a paste-board over east window on coop for chickens got out here, then got boxes ready to load chickens for Wm Abbot went around highway to count out Bachmann cattle but waited up there until 1 p.m. and Bachmann and Clarence must [have] moved them north for he no see them, came to his place, had dinner, brought Cora Ann and The Mrs. then they put on old clothes and we loaded 22 heavy and 1 real light hens and I got ready. We left here before 3 p.m. for Valentine for they got here at 2:30 p.m. I washed dishes and lunched before they came.
