November 8, 1920: It rained in fore part of morning but cleared off by noon. Will took me to Spencer as Mamma wasn’t well, and he returned but came for me in evening. Nellie and Boyd came from Winner on 1 o’clock train to stay with Mamma for a few days. Mrs. E. Angel, Mrs. K. Hynes were at folks as Mrs. L. Sullivan (Mary Hynes) is at Hospital, an infant girl born at 2 p.m. today. Also Mrs. C. Christsen and Charlie Snyder were visitors.

~ Hidden Timber, South Dakota

November 8, 1938, Tuesday: Bright, cool. Election Day. Will went to Hidden Timber, South Dakota, to be Chairman of Election Board at Whiting Store, where the other judges were Elmer Gran, Wm Chauncey and Clerks Wm Abbott and Wallace Gran. 67 votes were cast. Bud Whiting got Narvin and I at noon and brought us back. Narvin got in the heifer calves and put them in the corral. He chored and cut wood and shaved in a.m.

November 8, 1942, Sunday: After a chilly morning, was bright and a nice afternoon. I got breakfast and Will and Mr. Bachman took Henry and I to church at 8:30, and Mass was at 9 a.m. The congregation sang the soldier song, and it is nice. I am going to get a copy so we can learn it by heart.

Will and Bachman came back to feed chickens and milk cows. Mr. Bachman fed saddle horses before we went to church. I cleaned a chicken after church, fried it for dinner, and Will, Henry and Bachman went to north line of winter pasture and fixed some fence, came home for dinner. Henry skinned a badger that Stanley took to Winner, but Sturgis did not buy it. Henry will tan it.
